Colors

The third and final trimester is just days away.

So baby is really not that far away and I thought I would let you all in on our nursery colors.

Combining inspiration, our personal style, and disinterest in an overload in pastels we chose...

Navy, Lime Green and Gray.

Then after being inspired by this color palate we pulled in a little turquoise and yellow.
It may be a lot of colors, with no over riding theme, other than eclectic manly mania.

But we couldn't omit a single one, they compliment each other oh so well.

Migration

Long ago in a land far, far away, a Brilliant Homemaker Extrordinaire (aka Jennifer Douglas) turned me on to a fabulous DIY baby mobile.

For years it sat in the back of my mind.

A month or two ago I discovered it hiding back there and dusted it off.

It became a project that has spanned the countryside.

As we live in the land of golden coasts, most of our dear loved family and friends are not within reaching distance. I always imagined passing my children from my hands to theirs but alas, it will not be a regular experience.

So with the help of this mobile, a project was created that would bring the representation of each extension of family to our son.

Here is the inspiration.

Our project: which will hopefully be completed in the coming months will include a bird made from each aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother to create a wonderful flock of eclectic birds from all the corners of the US.

Here are the first few that have arrived. Coming all the way from Ohio and Michigan.

Here is our U.P. bird from Aunt Lynda
All the way from Isabelle Avenue, Cincinnati... a little friend sent by Aunt Suzanne
And another sent from the land of Cincy by Aunt Patti
And a little representative from Aunt Nancy in Columbus, Ohio
I can see it coming together already. I love the variety and can't wait to see how this will turn out!

From Grandpa

As we prepare for our little one,
(sorry that this is all we post about, I promise we do other things. But with all the traveling, all our unused down time is baby time. And all projects are revolving around that right now. )
...anyway, as we are preparing, we are constantly coming up with little projects.

I love the shop Little Alouette on Etsy. They make some incredibly cute wooden baby toys and teethers. My favorites are their mustaches and guitars...go check them out, so fun.

And because my dad is a master creator and currently loving the varieties of wood and their unaltered beauty (no painting allowed)...He is the family king of wooden cutting boards, they are beautiful. I got mine as a wedding present.

Anyway, I felt inspired to inspire him. Wooden Blocks for the baby. And they turned out beautifully in lots of wooden varieties. Trees from light to dark, and soft to hard. So come teething time, there will be plenty to choose from.
